Dr Graham Archard

Graham is in the senior partner of Stour Surgery, Christchurch. He was formerly Vice Chairman of the Royal College of General Practitioners. He is joint Chair and clinical governance lead of the South and East Dorset Primary Care Trust Professional Executive Committee.

Graham’s interest in osteoporosis comes from his belief that there is insufficient emphasis given to this silent condition which can cause such misery. Only by increasing the public and professional awareness of osteoporosis can the condition be raised up the public health agenda to become a real priority.

Graham has advised the government’s Health Select Committee and sits on external reference groups, and several NICE committees including: the NICE guidelines heart failure working group, the Advisory Committee on Topic Selection, Cancer Guidelines assessment Group and National Collaborating Centre for Primary Care. He runs the Succeed project, implementing nurse-managed care pathways in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, which was published in the National Service Framework for Coronary Heart Disease. He is a member of the Department of Health and General Medical Council expert reference group on appraisal and revalidation.

He is co-chair of the Expert Review Group of the Quality and Outcomes Framework on the new GP contract.
