"Osteoporosis Dorset is developing a new website on how to manage the risks associated with osteoporosis and fragility fracture. Over the last ten years there have been enormous advances in scientific knowledge and understanding of the clinical aspects of osteoporosis so we intend to interview national and local experts and put these video clips on our site. It is however the individual, rather than healthcare professionals who must accomplish the bulk of osteoporosis management on a day-to-day basis e.g. taking bone medicine as prescribed, as well as dealing with potential psychological repercussions of the disease. The site will therefore include information on how some of these risk factors may be tackled by lifestyle changes and peer support". |
